"Keep Er' Goin"

 How I think I did

I think I did beyond what I anticipated, aside from doing the LabSim's on time or doing 2 homework's ahead, I think it was a great idea on the fly. I would do for example, Monday and Tuesday night's homework on Monday, leaving Tuesday for my other 2 classes. I kept running it back (the domain practice modules that were used to help us study the material for the M0-110 until I got above an 80% I usually passed with an +90% so it was surprising that I got that perfect score. I had to reset the task and start over in the problem while testing and had I not a few times, I probably would've still passed but not without this score! In terms of studying LabSim and what I would do differently, I'd keep everything the same, maybe put a little more time into bonus quiz's but I like to think I fared well and studied good enough for those.

4.6.3 The Thesaurus

I chose this LabSim because it helps convey when you would to use the 'Thesaurus' function. You would use it when a word you have chosen can sound better by correcting when it's used incorrectly or misspelled. Typically it's used towards the end around the final editing to deal with overused or for poor choice usage. What I would do is if I noticed that I used the same word too much I would look up synonyms on my phone and insert them at each instance, going down the list of the synonyms of that word. Not only is this unnecessary, there is a built in option in the computer to aid with this.

Strategize

To prepare for the next MO-110 certification, everything thus far has shown that my approach to studies and gaining familiarity with modules is a well and proven method. I always make sure I get full credit for my assignments, and turning in my assignments on time (the irony on this one lol). I did well taking my time on the test but felt like I was pressed for time at home, because of trying to achieve a lot, where I'm not even under pressure. It was just the feeling or the thought of slacking that kept me focused and it helped so I just keep applying this consistent discipline and doing what I have to do to keep er' goin.

FYI

I slacked off a little on this assignment sorry for the delay, I celebrated my birthday party on Saturday the 14th and partied too hard. That's why I'm doing this the first day of Spring Break because of it but my birthday is St. Patrick's Day which is tomorrow (by the time of me writing this it's hours before my b-day). I've got an interview as a GRC Analyst intern during the course of this break, it's a role in Cyber Security and am actively preparing for that. If it's meant to be then it is, but I don't want to let this slip out of my grip. I hope everyone else has a good time relaxing and resting, I just want to be alert and on my toes during this break. If I land this then it's perfect, I would be gaining experience while still in college and with the help of this internship, maybe I can catch a break but until then I heard something somewhere, "If you want to shop until you drop, you have to work without looking at the clock". Let me take my advice and do what I can.

  1. Happy early birthday, first of all, and honestly respect because if I celebrated like that I would probably disappear for two days straight and forget school exists. Also congrats on getting a perfect score on the exam, that’s actually insane, I can’t even imagine seeing that on my screen without double checking five times. The fact that you still got your work done after all that just makes it even more impressive. I like how you’re sticking with your method because clearly it’s working, meanwhile I’m over here just trying not to embarrass myself in LabSim.

The Thesaurus part made me laugh because I still sit there repeating the same word like five times instead of just right clicking like a normal person. The whole “Keep Er' Goin'” mindset is something I’m trying to force into my life too, even if internally I’m already tired and slightly annoyed at everything. My version of spring break is way less productive, I’m probably just going to stay home and play video games, mostly PvP, because for some reason eliminating random players is my version of therapy. Good luck on your interview, that’s actually huge, and hopefully everything works out for you.

  3. Hi Nicholas. Congratulations on getting a perfect score, and Happy (Late) Birthday! I hope the interview for the internships goes well.

It's very convenient to not have to click on a different tab when looking for synonyms, which is what I used to do when I didn't know the "Thesaurus" option existed. I also like seeing how many words mean a similar thing.

  4. Happy belated birthday! I like your mindset and consistency, it really shows in how you approach your work. I can relate to repeating practice modules until getting a higher score; that repetition really helps.

  5. Happy belated Nicholas! The thesaurus is a great option to point out I've always outsourced when trying to find better ways to articulate my words and honestly never took a second though to use the built-in effect to help me while writing. Knowing this now helps me bring another way to help me improve on my papers/documents.

  7. Hi Nicholas. I usually study at home most of the so I also feel prone to slack. What helps me stay on task with my assignments is setting myself goals of what assignments to get done by a specific day.

  8. Hi Nicholas, I agree that the thesaurus option is very useful just like spell check it takes a lot less time to navigate ither ways of saying things. Sometimes I believe when we are writing opinion pieces we get much to comfortable using the same words and phrases. Wow congrats on your interview if you are as meticulous with homework I'm sure you are a great fit! Did you get the position?

    1. N o, they asked me a question "Do you have experience in....?" I said "I don't think [I do]" they cut me off in the middle of it and said "Moving on, next question" I knew then I wasn't gonna get it, Oh whale :l

  10. Hi Nicholas, congrats on the perfect score! The thesaurus option will definitely be helpful in the future. I usually just googled synonyms to find fancier words but thesaurus option seems to be a lot simpler.

  13. Hi Nicholas, I can see you’ve put together a really good study plan for IS101, and that’s great to see. The Thesaurus feature was new to me too, and it’s been super helpful, I personally use it all the time when I run out of vocabulary for my English classes.

  14. Hi Nicholas, a thesaurus is great for looking up synonyms and finding similar meanings. Also, I believe it helps locate antonyms with different meanings or words.

  15. Late happy birthday! The timeline on this comment is weird given that this post is in May.

The thesaurus feature in Word is actually super useful and keeps writing interesting as it gives you options for a redundant word. Great example fo a working routine, I wish I could be that consistent with my school work too but the irony too that my comment for a March post is in May is funny to think about.

All power to your cybersecurity job! Hopefully by this time you got the job and already working in it!

  16. Getting a perfect score on the MO-110 is honestly impressive 🔥. I also thought the thesaurus feature was way more useful than I expected. And good luck with the GRC Analyst internship interview that’s a huge opportunity, especially while still being in college.

  17. Hi Nicholas, I liked your reflection on how consistency and discipline helped you stay on track, especially your approach to repeating modules until you fully understood them.

  18. I see that I'm very late to the party! Happy belated birthday Nicholas :) I like that you did way more and beyond what you anticipated, it not only helps you be safe from the slacking-off mindset but also helps you learn a lot more than just enough/just what you need.

  19. Hello Nicholas. Great choice with the LabSim section. I also found the thesaurus feature very useful. Previously I would use a browser to find synonyms which resulted in a lot of time wasted.
